Helping Those Affected by the Las Vegas Shooting
by Jessy Anne Walters
In the wake of Sunday’s mass shooting, those within the Eastern Nazarene community and beyond are looking for ways to help those affected by the tragedy. Here are a few ways that you can be apart of the healing.
With over 500 people injured, there is a need for blood. The American Red Cross is working to help collect blood donations and deliver them to those in need. To donate blood visit http://www.redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-733-2767.
Steve Sisolak, chairman of the Clark County Commission, has organized a fund to help the victims and those affected by the shooting. To make a donation to the fund click here: https://www.gofundme.com/dr2ks2-las-vegas-victims-fund.
Donations can also be made to the Southern Nevada chapter of the American Red Cross. Click here for more info: http://www.redcross.org/local/nevada/southern-nevada/ways-to-donate.
As a faith-based community, Eastern Nazarene College understands the importance and power of prayer. Please pray for those affected by this tragedy and their families.
Join us Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at 10:25 a.m. for Eastern Nazarene’s Community Prayer Chapel as campus comes together to offer a prayer for those affected.
John 14:27 says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
Deuteronomy 31:6 reminds us, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Eastern Nazarene continues to offer love and prayer to those who have been touched by this disaster.
